CVE-2026-5956: Ankara Site Panel: SQLi enables full DB compromise

HIGH
Published August 31, 2026
CISO Take

This is a classic SQL injection (CWE-89) in the Ankara Hosting Site Management Panel, allowing an authenticated low-privilege user to manipulate backend SQL queries and read, modify, or delete data across the panel's database. The CVSS 3.1 score of 8.8 reflects high confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact with a low attack complexity and no user interaction required, but there is no EPSS score, no listing in CISA KEV, no public exploit code, and no Nuclei scanner template — meaning real-world exploitation likelihood cannot currently be quantified and no active campaign has been observed. Critically, nothing in the CVE description, references, or affected-product data ties this vulnerability to an AI/ML framework, model, agent, or pipeline component from our tracked package set; the assigned 'ml_ui' AI category appears to be a classification artifact rather than a genuine AI/ML nexus. Treat this as a standard high-severity web application SQLi against a hosting control panel, not an AI-specific threat. Action: track the vendor's response to the Turkish CERT advisory (siberguvenlik.gov.tr) for a patched version beyond build 15062026, and in the interim audit panel accounts for least-privilege access and monitor database logs for anomalous query patterns.

What is the risk?

High technical severity (CVSS 8.8) driven by full CIA impact and low attack complexity, but exploitation likelihood is currently unproven — no EPSS score is available, the CVE is not in CISA KEV, and there is no known public exploit or scanner coverage. Exploitation requires a low-privilege authenticated account (PR:L), which raises the bar slightly above an unauthenticated flaw but is still a realistic bar for many hosting-panel deployments (shared hosting environments often have many low-trust accounts). Absent confirmed AI/ML system exposure, this should be triaged as a standard high-severity web application vulnerability rather than an AI-specific threat.

How does the attack unfold?

Authenticated Access
Attacker obtains or already holds a low-privilege authenticated account on the Ankara Hosting Site Management Panel.
SQL Injection
Attacker submits crafted input to an unsanitized parameter, causing the panel to execute attacker-controlled SQL (CWE-89).
Data Compromise
Attacker reads, modifies, or deletes data in the panel's database, compromising confidentiality, integrity, and availability of hosted-site data.

What should I do?

1 step
  1. 1) Monitor the vendor/Turkish CERT advisory (siberguvenlik.gov.tr) for a patched release beyond build 15062026 and apply it as soon as available. 2) Until patched, enforce strict least-privilege on all panel accounts to reduce the pool of users who could trigger the PR:L-gated injection. 3) Deploy a WAF rule set tuned for SQL injection patterns in front of the panel if externally exposed. 4) Review and parameterize any custom queries if the panel is self-hosted/modifiable. 5) Monitor database and application logs for anomalous query structures or errors indicative of injection attempts.

Is CVE-2026-5956 actively exploited?

No confirmed active exploitation of CVE-2026-5956 has been reported, but organizations should still patch proactively.

How to fix CVE-2026-5956?

What is the CVSS score for CVE-2026-5956?

CVE-2026-5956 has a CVSS v3.1 base score of 8.8 (HIGH). The EPSS exploitation probability is 0.43%.

What are the technical details?

Original Advisory

Improper neutralization of special elements used in an SQL command ('SQL injection') vulnerability in Ankara Hosting Site Management Panel allows SQL Injection. This issue affects Site Management Panel: through 15062026.

Exploitation Scenario

An attacker who has obtained or purchased low-privilege credentials to the hosting panel (e.g., via credential stuffing, a reseller account, or a phishing campaign) logs in and submits crafted input into a vulnerable panel parameter. Because the input is not properly neutralized before being used in an SQL command, the attacker can extract customer data, hosted-site credentials, or configuration secrets, or modify/delete records outright — potentially escalating to full compromise of every site managed through that panel instance.

Weaknesses (CWE)

CWE-89 — Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an SQL Command: The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.

  • [Architecture and Design] Use a vetted library or framework that does not allow this weakness to occur or provides constructs that make this weakness easier to avoid [REF-1482]. For example, consider using persistence layers such as Hibernate or Enterprise Java Beans, which can provide significant protection against SQL injection if used properly.
  • [Architecture and Design] If available, use structured mechanisms that automatically enforce the separation between data and code. These mechanisms may be able to provide the relevant quoting, encoding, and validation automatically, instead of relying on the developer to provide this capability at every point where output is generated. Process SQL queries using prepared statements, parameterized queries, or stored procedures. These features should accept parameters or variables and support strong typing. Do not dynamically construct and execute query strings within these features using "exec" or similar functionality, since this may re-introduce the possibility of SQL injection. [REF-867]
